The Blind Pig on 12th Ave South was much anticipated. The people from Watermark and Miro District run this place. I was not pleased.
Pros:
Location, Smoked Cabbage was awesome, and vinegar based sauces were good.
Cons:
Fried flat bread - really gross - like eating a cold totally saturated grease dough sponge. Pulled pork was mushy (overcooked) and over-seasoned with some sort of sauce that tells me they are hiding something. I mean why put 6 sauces on the table and serve sauced pork?????
I was totally foolish is choosing the BBQ empinadas which couple the before mentioned dough and pork making for a the ultimate gross experience. Grease and grease don't go well together.
The server was nice but knowledge of the menu was lacking - like so many places today.
Pimento Cheese - generic
Hard to make St.Louis style ribs dry, but somehow they managed.
Conclusion:
In a well educated and saturated bbq market I don't see this place lasting a year.
